Los Angeles’s Homelessness Count is Down

I’m pleased to see the decrease in homelessness in Los Angeles City and County. After five years of increasing, the 2024 Los Angeles Homeless Count reported a 2.2% reduction compared to the previous year.

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) plays a crucial role in our city’s efforts to address homelessness, providing annual counts that offer valuable data and insights.

Mayor Karen Bass’s efforts have changed the direction of Los Angeles’s homelessness crisis. Along with countless fellow nonprofit leaders, I’m proud of the work the Weingart Center has accomplished in empowering those experiencing homelessness.

Our interim and permanent supportive housing programs are helping reduce the number of people living on the streets by effectively providing housing and wrap-around services to address our clients’ root causes of homelessness.
