Senator Kevin Murray (Ret.) is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Weingart Center Association. He has served in this position since 2011.
Prior to his current role, Murray founded The Murray Group in 2006, a legal and consulting firm specializing in Public Policy and Entertainment, where he was Managing Partner.
Before founding The Murray Group, Murray served as Senior Vice President at the William Morris Agency (WMA), the nation’s longest-running and most diversified talent agency. Murray worked primarily in the company’s corporate consulting division, as well as in the music, television, and film divisions. In 1982, Murray began at WMA as an employee in the mailroom before working his way up to become an agent in the Music Division. After serving 12 years in the California State Legislature, he rejoined the agency in January 2007.
Murray was elected the California State Assembly in 1994 representing the 47th District which included Culver City and Los Angeles. In 1998, he was elected to represent the 26th Senate District adding the communities of Hancock Park, Hollywood and Silverlake to his representation. He retired in 2006 due to term limits.
Murray sits on the corporate boards of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, California American Water and Hawaii American Water. He serves on the Board of the Central City Association, and is also a member of the California State Bar, the L.A. World Affairs Council, and the Pacific Council on International Relations.
Senator Murray holds a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from CSU, Northridge. He is also a California licensed real estate broker.
