Senator Kevin Murray (ret.) Offers Insight into L.A. Mayor Karen Bass's State of Emergency Declaration

On 12/12/2022, I sat down with Jonathan Serviss of KNX News On Demand to provide insight into the State of Emergency newly-appointed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass declared on her first day in office.

At the top of the episode, I was asked, “what does the State of Emergency actually change,” and I explained, “[…] some people think it’s symbolic; [but] it actually does give the mayor some power […].”

I provided further insight into what the State of Emergency actually means, what opponents and supporters alike can expect, and how this declaration sets the legal framework necessary to push forward with an aggressive plan to address the homeless crisis in the City of Los Angeles.
